EMX’s Trollberget Zn-Pb-Cu-Ag-Au project is a large land position in the heart of the World Class Bergslagen VMS District of southern Sweden. Access is excellent via paved roads. Stockholm is about two hours south, and the industrial center Borlange is about 30 kilometers southwest. Mining labor and infrastructure is highly developed.
Trollberget is 17 Km east of the world class Falun polymetallic VMS mine and 35 Km northwest of Boliden’s rapidly expanding Garpenberg Zinc Mine.
Trollberget has similar host rocks to both Falun and Garpenberg: mafic to felsic volcanics with strata-bound, syn-volcanic skarn and carbonate replacements. Outcropping mineralization is hosted in meta-rhyolite with tremolite alteration, suggesting potential for carbonate replacement.
Systematic exploration has not been conducted at Trollberget, and precious metals potential remains unassessed. In 2007, two channel samples were taken, about 25 meters apart. The first sample yielded 1.5 m @ 21.4% Zn, 1.8% Pb, 1.3% Cu, 131 g/t Ag and 2.3 g/t Au. The second sample yielded 2.0 m @ 9.9% Zn, 1.2% Pb, 0.7% Cu, 85 g/t Ag and 0.2 g/t Au (Tumi Resources 2007). True widths are unknown. These results have not been followed up.
EMX is encouraged by these grades and believes systematic modern methods could vector toward additional mineralization over mineable widths.
Note: The nearby Falun and Garpenberg mines and deposits mentioned above provide context for EMX’s Project, which occurs in a similar geologic setting, but this is not necessarily indicative that the project hosts similar tonnages or grades of mineralization.
