Yerington West, Arizona
Yerington West is a porphyry copper project located in the Yerington Mining District of western Nevada and is being advanced by Hudbay Minerals (formerly held by Entrée Gold). Historic Anaconda work from the 1960-1980s produced a highly-constrained structural and geologic framework, highlighting untested targets throughout the district. Much of the district remains covered by post-mineral sedimentary and volcanic units. EMX is targeting a concealed porphyry center related to an exposed dike swarm with associated skarn mineralization.
Tertiary faults have significantly dismembered and extended the district, which contains a cluster of porphyry Cu (Mo) systems centered on a Jurassic granitic pluton. Fault-bound deposit pieces include the past-producing Yerington and McArthur mines (Anaconda), and the undeveloped Bear-Lagomarsino and Ann Mason deposits, in addition to several IOCG-type targets such as Pumpkin Hollow (Nevada Copper).
Drilling by partner Entrée Gold on the EMX property intersected high-temperature porphyry-related alteration and mineralization, consistent with a distal porphyry-related signature.
Yerington West is under option to Entrée Gold, where Entrée can earn up to an 80% interest in the project by completing a feasibility study by October 2019, and by completing yearly minimum work commitments or making Advanced Production Payments. Once Entrée has earned into the project, EMX can convert its interest to a 2.5% NSR. Entrée has the option to purchase 1.5% of the NSR for US$4.5M.
In May 2017 Entrée Gold spun-out its U.S. assets including the Ann Mason project and Yerington West project into Mason Resources. Hudbay Minerals has since acquired Mason Resources in December 2018
Note: The nearby mines and deposits in the region provide context for EMX’s Project, which occurs in a similar geologic setting, but this is not necessarily indicative that the project hosts similar mineralization.
